HOW TO JOIN

Best way... come down for a chat. There's plenty of friendly people to help you out or point you in the direction of those who can. We generally race on Saturday afternoons with Junior training in the mornings. So from around 9 am to 6 pm there will be someone there to help you.

We have club boats available if you want a no-obligation try at dingy sailing (contact us first). There is also almost always a lonely skipper(s) desperately seeking a crew for the day. This is often the best way to try sailing (skipper dependent).

Below are the membership categories and associated fees at HBC.

Membership Category Subscription
Senior - over 21 on opening day $160.00
Family - children under 17 on opening day $235.00
Intermediate - between 17 and 21 on opening day $70.00
Junior - under 17 on opening day $50.00
Associate $20.00

This fee gives you access to the clubs extensive facilities. These include: an extensive Racing Calendar with many trophies up for grabs, the safety of 2 Rescue boats (Saturdays racing only), changing rooms with hot showers, a large rigging area with parking, ramp access to the beach, limited boat storage, club boats for trial, access to Yachting New Zealand certified coaches, an HBC Membership Card which allows you entry into the clubrooms of any Yachting New Zealand affiliated club, excellent clubrooms in a prime location (also available for hire*), a bar for after race relaxation, and most importantly : a great social environment.
